German cockroach

The German cockroach, Blattella germanica (L.), is a major insect pest in food handling areas such as homes, restaurants, hospitals, warehouses, offices and other structures. They are omnivorous, can eat all organic food sources, including discarded food in kitchen trash, animal feces in the litter box, cardboard and glue in the book. It carries various pathogenic microbes by eating contaminated food or crawling over bacteria-loaded substances. They can contaminate human food and eating utensils by walking over and their feces. The dead cockroach body fragments and feces are sources for allergens to adults and children. Cockroaches are nocturnal; they have spent day time by concealing in cracks and crevices around sources of food and water such as sinks, drains, kitchen equipment’s, the backs of cupboards and in refrigerator motor compartments.
